Country Director, Honduras
Job Description, Volunteers for Honduran Communities

Position Description:
The Country Director (CD) oversees all of VHC’s work in Honduras, including team leadership, oversight of the rural development and international medical trips, and year-round management of organizational administration and partnerships. The CD manages a team of around 5 people plus volunteers and contractors; reports to the (International) Executive Director. The salary will range from $1500 - 2,300 per month, depending on experience and skillset.
Responsibilities:
Below is the expected scope of work. There will be occasional additional tasks as needed.
Provide Overall Leadership of Honduran Team (25%)
● Work with HQ leadership to create strategy, design and review program designs and work plans
● Lead Honduran team; Hold weekly meetings with all Honduran staff, and develop weekly work plans for team members
● Manage team staffing, benefits, recruitment, vacation planning and similar in compliance with Honduran law
● Meet at least weekly with Executive Director and provide reporting weekly or as directed
● Coordinate with and build relationships with government, UN, and other NGOs; Organize or attend coordination meeting
Lead Honduran Administration (20%)
● Build relationships with and MOUs with partners, help team and volunteers maintain referral networks
● Lead Honduran human resources, hiring & payroll in coordination with lawyer and US HQ team
● Oversee finance and banking with Honduran accountant; assure accountant submits financial reports by the 10th of each month
● Support Operations Director to assure proper management of warehouse, inventory, record keeping for vehicles, container shipping imports, medical equipment donations to partners, and other logistics as needed
● Answer questions emails and messages
Reporting, Project Management, and Fundraising (20%)
● Review and update status of project plans regularly with team and M&E Officer
● Help M&E Officer/Assistant arrange logistics & volunteers to perform evaluation as needed
● Support project Proposals - Make recommendations, help team understand needs, answer questions and make agreements with partners
● Use M&E report findings to improve programming
● Occasionally provide inputs for fundraising and help with occasional fundraising events
● Engage Honduran Donors with support from team
● Prepare reports, impact stories, photos or other content with HQ or donors as needed
Program Planning & Oversight (20%)
● Work with Operations Director to assure high quality community development programs
● Design and coordinate new projects, develop community partnership; assure programs have robust technical approaches, especially for community mobilization, leadership development and similar
● Work with medical and other experts to integrate technical expertise and approaches into daily programing
● Visit field and supervise programs, help team recruit volunteers and community leadership
● Support program operations team; lead occasional trainings and large program activities
● Work with HQ team and Honduran focal points to support communications, fundraising and proposals as needed
Facilitate Brigade Trips (15%).
● Work with Operations Director, Medical Staff, and Partners to plan and facilitate medical brigades and patient selections
● Help provide coordination, communication and transport
● Guide team on context, cultural, and safety considerations
Skills and Expertise Required
● Minimum 8 years of NGO/INGO experience, with at least 5 years of management.
● Demonstrated success in rural community mobilization and participatory development approaches.
● Strong background in organizational capacity-building, partnership development, and multi-national collaboration.
● Conversational or fluent English, and fluent in Spanish
● Ability to drive, including in rural settings required. Ability to drive manual transmission pickup truck in the mountains preferred.
● Passion for visiting and working directly with rural communities.
● Excellent financial, administrative, and human resource management skills.
● Proven ability to work effectively in cross-cultural and politically sensitive environments.
● Experience with both grants (USAID, UN, or similar) and privately funding preferred
● Familiarity with UN and global development coordination mechanisms preferred
● Candidate must be Honduran and authorized to work in Honduras.

Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting Officer
Job Description

Summary:
This person will be responsible for monitoring the programs, preparing reports and feedback, and providing management with information. The position can be work from home, but must be based in Comayagua, Honduras, and will require travel to other parts to Honduras including rural Comayagua. This role will be full-time (40 hours / week). Salary depends on experience, in a range from $650-1,000 per month. It will be paid in Lempira once monthly, plus other labor rights as per Honduran law.
Role Details:
The Position reports directly to the Country Director and works with all parts of the organization, including the operations team and the HQ team. The work can be performed from home or from anywhere in the Comayagua area or in our Warehouse space, but the candidate will need access to a good internet connection wherever they choose to work. Candidate must be willing to travel to remote areas such as communities in Monte Ceros, Comayagua. (The project assistant will spend around one third of their time in the field, including rural, low-income areas).
Primary Duties:
Project Monitoring & Evaluation (35%)
● Visit projects, with at least one day in the field per week, including local visits as needed, and more as needed
● Track activities performed and update project workplan documents under guidance from leadership in support of VHC programming and partner programming
● Perform annual field assessments to assess impact of projects, including asking beneficiaries about their experiences with projects
● Perform interviews, such as beneficiary interviews or door to door questionnaires to help organization understand the needs of the communities we serve
● Collect data and compile it into spreadsheets and reports under leadership guidance
● Capture simple video, photos, and beneficiary testimony to help verify impact of projects
Communications & Reporting (35%)
● Learn about project designs and community needs
● Write reports for projects and donors as needed
● Create written stories, or other media showcasing the impact of the work and the need for the work we do
● Create infographics for reports, and visually appealing materials
● Write project descriptions or beneficiary stories for website or communications materials
● Support videographers or photographers in content generation as needed; explain projects, review scripts, support interviews, and other support as needed
● Attend regular communications meetings and help coordinate between communications and
Support Project Activities (20%)
● Occasionally support hygiene promotion, clean water promotion, and other awareness raising efforts as needed
● Support field project design, reporting, and grant writing efforts as needed as needed under guidance of executive director.
● Answer emails and questions from headquarters, provide report inputs, or support special projects from leadership
● Perform inventory management, medical donation documentation, other logistics under guidance from leadership.
● Support planning, translation, and event coordination for incoming international visitors
Organizational Planning & Coordination (10%)
● Support other administrative tasks
● Travel to meetings in Tegucigalpa, La Paz, and elsewhere depending on need
● Perform purchases and paperwork documentation to support projects
● Other tasks as needed
Requirements:
Required
● A four year degree in preferably a four year degree in business, administration, health, development, social sciences or similar required
● Strong computer skills required
● Strong English spoken and writing skills required
● Attention to detail required
● Desire to serve and willingness to travel to rural areas is required
● Eagerness to learn and build new professional skills
● Candidate must be Honduran and authorized to work in Honduras.
Preferred
● Experience in public health as a nurse, nurse assistant, or medical tech is a plus
● Experience in NGO monitoring & evaluation is a strong plus
● Experience in data collection, interviewing, and surveys is a plus
● Experience collecting information and reporting data in spreadsheets is a plus
● Ability to perform simultaneous or consecutive verbal interpretation is a plus
● Experience in administration of public grant or projects is a plus
